Herbal medicine refers to the science and art of using botanical medicines to prevent and treat illness. Today hundred of thousands of research papers support the traditional therapeutic use of many herbal medicines. Clinical practice today relies on hundreds of years of traditional wisdom combined with the support of modern day research, analytical methods and scientific methodology.

Many of my patients are quite intrigued when I grab perhaps 4-6 bottles of liquid herbs to include in their herbal mix. Each herb has a purpose as part of the individual’s holistic treatment. An example for a clients cold and flu symptoms may include the following: One herb to cope with exhaustion and stress leading up to the cold, one herb to support immunity, one herb to help with lymphatic congestion/swollen glands, one herb for it antibiotic/antimicrobial effect and  herbs to restore the lungs, aid congestion and support the respiratory tract.

Most practitioners today use herbs from highly reputable suppliers. These herbs have undergone significant testing to ensure a high level of active herbal constituents that provide the herb with its therapeutic value.
